SDORC Board of Directors Election Results
May 2008

At its May general meeting, SDORC held annual elections for members of the Board of Directors. After over two years of leading SDORC as its President, Ed Stovin decided not to run for another term. Ed stepped up to the plate under difficult circumstances and has performed admirably. Many thanks to Ed for a job well done. Ed will be replaced by the newly-elected Chuck Hattaway. Chuck has held various positions on SDORC's Board of Directors for several years, and we know he will make an excellent President.

Replacing Chuck as Director of Business Relations is Steve Chaney. Steve has served as one of our Directors at Large for a few years, and has proven to be enthusiastic and hard working. He will make a great Director of Business Relations.

Our Director of Car and Trailer Raffles, Deedee Kerr, has also stepped down, leaving that spot vacant. Deedee has done a fantastic of raising considerable funds for SDORC by overseeing the procurement and raffling of three off-road cars, including trailers, over the past three years. Deedee will be missed.

For the first time in 14 years, Jim McGarvie will not be on the SDORC Board of Directors. After serving in various capacities over that time, Jim has decided to step down as Director of Communications. Elected to that position is Guy Halac. Guy has been putting together SDORC's newsletter for the past two issues and doing a great job. He has extensive experience in computer-related tasks, including Web site development and maintenance. Jim is very comfortable turning over this position to Guy. Thank you Guy.

Denise Jones elected not to run for another term as Director of Community Events, and that position remains open. Thank you, Denise, for a job well done.

Joe Ascuitto, who has served on our board for several years as a Director at Large, has also relinquished his seat on the board. He has, however, agreed to continue to represent SDORC on the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area Technical Review Team. Thank you Joe.

As a result of the election, Angela Harbin will be replacing Joe as a Director at Large. Thanks for helping out, Angela, and welcome aboard!

The newly-elected board members assume their positions effective with the June general meeting. Other positions remain as they are on our current Board list (www.sdorc.org/board.html).
